Closing 2015 Officially

I was hesitating for a few days if I should write an entry about how the year 2015 went by for me, as we are already in the mid point of January 2016 and I didn't really have much significant events that I felt I could blog about. But after reading back on how my past two years went by, I decided that I should stick to writing so that probably 5 years down the road I know that 2015 wasn't a waste of time and I do have things I could be thankful for. So here goes!

One of the biggest parenting milestone for us in 2015 wass to celebrate Zoe's first birthday in April. Her birthday celebration still felt like just a few months back, though we will be approaching her 2nd birthday in 3 months' time! I could still remember the joyous day of being surrounded by so many friends and family who love us and our family. Watching Zoe grow and hit all her significant developmental milestones in 2015 had been so much fun. From her first steps, to her calling Mama (read here for more), to hearing her express herself so well, to seeing her role playing on her own and being such a happy girl all the time had been an experience that both Jiahao and I are so thankful for. She has made our family so much more complete and we are thankful to God for entrusting her into our care. (Read here for more of Zoe's 1st birthday celebration)

We've also traveled twice this year - Hong Kong & Taiwan, which was a surprise for me as we are not the impulsive kind who would pack and go with the kid. Hong Kong was Zoe's first holiday and though tiring to bring a toddler along to a not a very friendly holiday location, we had plenty of fun just being together exploring places and celebrating the husband's birthday at Disneyland. (Read here for more of our Hong Kong trip). Taiwan in late September was a trip not to be forgotten even though I did not blog about (yet!), it was probably the most long suffering holiday I had as I was 9 weeks pregnant traveling up the to the countryside of Taiwan and feeling miserable most of the time. But we forged many many wonderful memories together with my in-laws (who has always been a joy to be with), and I hope I find time to blog about the trip!

Being pregnant with our 2nd child wass obviously one of the most significant thing that happened in 2015 for me and for my family. This pregnancy has been different compared to my first one since the beginning and being pregnant this time round had also been very memorable for both the husband and I. We were both going through a rather challenging time in our lives, and this news broke us and reminded us deeply about God's faithfulness to our family. We are very excited to have another child to love and to be loved, and we look forward to his arrival coming May!

Just before we close 2015, we also took the courage to launch Lil' Rain Kids, our children's wear online store that has been WIP since end 2014. Took a year to finally set it up, and there were many times I doubted myself and the vision, met many obstacles, delays and closed doors, but with the encouragement and tremendous support from the husband, and also the assurance from God's word, we finally made it happen. As we are still in the very early stage of the business, its definitely tough and everyday I kept thinking of it and trying to improve and work on the new challenges we face. We are trying to find our grounds, getting the word out to as many people as possible and working on the future collection of designs and all these are just challenging while working full-time, taking care of a toddler and soon a newborn, but we pray that this small business will take flight and we will see God moving and using this for His glory. So, that's it for 2015, no big achievements but very thankful to have spent most of my time this year being with my family as a wife, mother, daughter + daughter in-law, sister and hopefully also enough for my friends who have stuck with me. I have not spend much time blogging in 2015, as it's probably very mundane to most people as I shuttle between work and caring for Zoe, but watching my little family grow has really been one of the best times of my life. I have learned so much about love, and also about myself and all these have made me a better person.

So, now that I have officially close 2015, I am all ready for 2016 and what God has in store for me, and for us. If you are reading this, thank you for sticking around and being a reader here, and I hope my blog has been a blessing to you one way or another :)

Happy 2016!
